Upcoming Changes to Vaping Regulations in New Zealand

🚭 Upcoming Changes to Vaping Regulations in New Zealand – What You Need to Know

As of 17 June 2025, significant updates to New Zealand's vaping regulations will come into effect. These changes aim to curb youth vaping and promote responsible retail practices. Here’s a breakdown of what these changes mean for you:

šŸ”’ Ban on Disposable Vapes

The sale, distribution, and supply of disposable vaping devices—those that cannot be refilled or recharged—will be prohibited. This move targets single-use products that have been particularly popular among younger users.

šŸ–¼ļø Restrictions on Product Visibility

Retailers, both physical and online, will face new limitations:

  • In-store: Vaping products and their packaging must not be visible from outside the store. General retailers must keep these products out of sight entirely.

  • Online: Websites can no longer display images of vaping products or their packaging. Only text-based listings, such as product names and prices, are permitted.

🚫 Prohibition of Promotions and Loyalty Programs

All forms of promotions, discounts, giveaways, and loyalty programs related to vaping products will be banned. This includes any promotional communications to customers.

These changes are part of the government’s efforts to reduce youth vaping while still supporting adults who use vaping as a smoking cessation tool. We are committed to complying with these regulations and will be updating our website and practices accordingly.
